Lady Khadījah (Allah be pleased with her) was the very first person to accept Islam and believe in the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace). He would later say of her, ‘She believed in me when people disbelieved in me; she trusted me when people belied me; she gave me shelter when people refused me; she supported me when people deprived me; and Allah provided me with children through her when He deprived me of children from [all other] women.’

The present work is a translation of two treatises on the Life of Lady Khadījah and her outstanding virtues. The first is that of the late Meccan scholar Sayyid Muḥammad ibn ʿAlawī al-Mālikī al-Ḥasanī, entitled Bushrā fī Manāqib al-Sayyidah al-Khadījah al-Kubrā (The Glad Tidings on the Merits of Lady Khadījah the Greatest); and the second, al-Sayyidah Khadījah Umm al-Mu’minīn wa Sabbāqah al-Khalq ilā al-Islām (Lady Khadījah: The Mother of the Believers and the First of Creation to Embrace Islam), is by the late Syrian scholar Shaykh ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd Maḥmūd Ṭuhmāz. Together, they form an indispensable resource for delving deeper into the life of this remarkable woman.

Lady Khadījah’s life—a testament to her loyalty, deep faith, impeccable character, steadfastness and unwavering dedication to Allah, the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) and Islam, and her strength in the face of adversity—remains an inspiration and timeless example for Muslim men and women everywhere.
